The Simpsons is a well-known television program that has been created into an arcade game. As an animated television series, each episode showed us the lives of the Simpson Family: Marge, Homer, Lisa, Bart and Maggie. The program first aired on television in 1987 on Fox Television.

 

There are many games available for the Simpsons, but the official game is called “The Simpsons: The Arcade Game”. It was created for the Commodore 64 and PC DOS computers. As an arcade game, the game's storyline is not hard to understand.

 

The family members help to foil a diamond robbery organized by tycoon Mr. Burns that is carried out by his assistant Waylon Smithers. Fortunately, the robbery is bungled as Smithers runs into the Simpsons Family. This results in Maggie Simpson being kidnapped, because she uses the diamond as a pacifier.

 

 

The main action within the game is to rescue Maggie from Smithers and Burns. The gamer must do so by going through eight different stages. These stages all occur within different areas of Springfield where the Simpsons live. For example, Stage 4 occurs at Moe’s Tavern.

 

All of the players are available as characters within the game, but the gamer must choose a specific player to navigate through Springfield and rescue Maggie. You will be able to choose to play as Marge who has a vacuum cleaner as a weapon. Homer uses just his hands and feet to fight. Not only must the gamer battle with missiles from Smithers and an army tank being driven by Burns, some of Mr. Burns employees also fight against the family.
