Did you know there's an organ app for the iPad now? True story; keyboard apps weren't enough for at least one developer, so they went out and simulated the organ's dual set of keys for the tablet. And one game fan went out and bought it to use on his recreation of the original Zelda theme song.
YouTube user GuizDP decided to honor the new Skyward Sword game's release with a fitting musical tribute. The latest installation in the long-running Legend of Zelda series hit the shelves for the Wii just over a week ago on the 18th. It's a fitting time for the release, as the Legend of Zelda franchise just turned 25. That's a quarter of a century of gaming; Link and Zelda have come a long way.
If you've got an iPad or four lying around, you can learn to play the theme for yourself. The video's creator has helpfully included a tutorial for doing exactly what he did. All you need are three friends with some digital musician chops and you're good to go. Personally, I've got dibs on that virtual five-string bass, although I guess the drums look cool too. The nice thing about covering game themes from the '80s is that you don't really have to worry about sound quality when all you're doing is reconstructing midi clips. Guiz should go on the road with this thing; I bet people would respond to a virtual band jamming out on their touchscreens while paying tribute to 16-bit classics.
